How to Install Hardwood Floors
Having a professional install your hardwood floor can assure you that you’ll be able to enjoy you hardwood floors for years to come. First, our installers prepare the subfloor to make sure it's ready for installation by making sure it is dry, flat, and free of imperfections. This is especially important because you don't want there to be moisture underneath the hardwood planks, which will cause damage over time. Once we approve the subfloor, we begin installation.
Solid and engineered hardwood floors can be installed in different ways. Engineered hardwood comes in floating floors and can lock together, so no adhesives are needed. Solid hardwood is glued or nailed down for a permanent install so they planks do not shift. It is important to leave a gap between the base of the walls and the floors because hardwood naturally expands over time. Once all of the planks are in place and installed, we'll check the surface to make sure there aren't any gaps between planks.
Where Can Hardwood Be Installed?
Although hardwood is a beautiful and durable floor, it is not suited for every space in your home. That means you should avoid installing any type of hardwood in places like laundry rooms and bathrooms because of high moisture. At the same time, we don't recommend choosing solid hardwood for high traffic areas like commercial settings.
Other than that, hardwood can be installed in places around your home like bedrooms, living rooms, and hallways, and engineered hardwood can be installed in kitchens and basements.
Hardwood can transform your bedroom into a private retreat, and it can handle the moderate levels of foot traffic you'd expect in bedrooms. Also, hardwood will not trap dirt, dust, and allergens, so it is a clean and healthy flooring option for bedrooms.
Install hardwood flooring in a place everyone can see like your living room. Hardwood offers style and character that simply cannot be replicated. Opt for engineered hardwood flooring if you have an active family, or children and pets in your home. Engineered hardwood is more durable and more stable than solid hardwood.
